Data Provenance
How fresh is the data?
Every SafeScore is built from federal government databases. Here is exactly how often each source publishes new data, and how quickly SafeScore ingests it.

Sex Offender Data
Sex offender registry
Sex Offender Registry data is sourced from individual state registries aggregated through the National Sex Offender Public Website (NSOPW). State registries update in real time as offenders register, move, or are removed. SafeScore syncs NSOPW data monthly.
Clarification
What "real-time" means
When SafeScore shows "real-time" score updates, this refers to score recalculation — when you query an address, the system computes your score against the most recently ingested dataset. It does not mean underlying source data streams live from agencies. Federal agencies publish on the schedules shown above.
Data Integrity
How we handle data gaps
Most Recent Available Dataset
Where a federal source has not yet released data for the most recent period, SafeScore uses the most recently available dataset and displays the data vintage year alongside the score.
No Interpolation or Estimation
We never interpolate or estimate data that has not been published. If the underlying source data has not been released, we do not fill in the gap with modeled or inferred values.
